Ahmad Joudeh - New 2018.05.12 The What Dance Can Do Project opened its first photo exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark
The What Dance Can Do Project, for which Ahmad Joudeh is an ambassador, opened its first photo exhibition at Magasin du Nord in Copenhagen, Denmark, in collaboration with The Royal Danish Theatre.
The exhibition is an official warm-up event to Balletfestival 2018, which runs from 1-9 June 2018 , and it will be possible to view the exhibition until the end of the festival.
Aurélia Sellier, the founder, will represent the project as part of Hübberiet 2 on 19 May and 5 June 2018.

Message from What Dance Can Do Project
Throughout 2017, photographer Selina Meier and Aurélia Sellier, founder of the What Dance Can Do Project, met with dancers of the Royal Danish Ballet.
They shared their thoughts, dreams and life stories with them and you can experience the result in the What Dance Can Do exhibition.
Through photography and accompanying text, the exhibition lets you become part of the immersive journey through the life and work of the incredibly diverse team of Royal Ballet dancers.
The goal of the exhibition is to share publicly how dance adds beauty to the world, and how it brings joy and lightness to our everyday life – while also conveying important messages about the society we live in.

This is what we can do – Nikolaj Hübbe, Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet
Nikolaj Hübbe
Every year, with 15 to 20 dancers of the company, we do a “running summer ballet”. We install a platform and pitch our tents in the countryside somewhere in Denmark. We perform for free. As a national company, we are state supported and therefore, this is part of our duties. Last summer we went to a refugee camp. There were two little boys, 5 years old maybe. They were tiny and beautiful, holding hands. The two children had been around all day looking at the costumes. They were fascinated by all the equipment, the sets, the stage.
Summer evenings in Denmark can be chilly and humid. One of the principal dancers were complaining about the weather and the cold. “Why are we here, in the middle of nowhere?” Then she saw the two boys, whose huge eyes were popping out. She looked at me: “Got you. I know why I am here tonight. These two actually are the reason why I do this job”.
This is what we do.
We are a National Company and we need to give back to society.
